Turmeric Curcuminoids

Turmeric contains curcuminoids that have anti-inflammatory properties which may relieve joint inflammation, swelling and stiffness. Curcuminoids also act as potent antioxidants providing protection from liver damage and aiding digestive function. Some researchers have suggested that curcuminoids may have some impact on colonic cancer.

IMPORTANT STUFF:

  • No researcher or health practitioner claims that turmeric curcuminoids will prevent colonic cancer.
  • No researcher or health practitioner claims that it is a cure for cancer.
  • Neither we nor the manufacturers claim turmeric curcuminoids will affect, prevent, mitigate, alleviate or cure colonic cancer.

SO PLEASE NOTE CAREFULLY:

  • If you are being treated for colonic cancer, maintain the treatment advised by your oncologist, surgeon and/or health professional.
  • Delaying, modifying or abandoning mainstream cancer treatment and relying solely on alternative therapies has resulted in serious, unnecessary and tragic outcomes.

However, given that turmeric has been safely used daily by millions of people for hundreds of years in traditional Indian medicine and cooking, the risk of taking it in addition to mainstream cancer therapy, or as part of a general bowel health program appears to be minimal. The choice is yours.

Two examples of the research are referenced here (You can search for them by copying and pasting the titles into Google) and make your own mind up about the value or otherwise of curcuminoids and colonic cancer:

  • J Agric Food Chem. 2007 Oct 3;55(20):8213-22. Epub 2007 Aug 31. Curcuminoids-cellular uptake by human primary colon cancer cells as quantitated by a sensitive HPLC assay and its relation with the inhibition of proliferation and apoptosis. Hsu YC, Weng HC, Lin S, Chien YW.
